Students learn to communicate effectively while gaining an in-depth cultural understanding of English-speaking countries. This immersive approach integrates English into curriculum subjects, fostering social skills such as empathy, communication and the ability to work collaboratively. In addition, by speaking the second language, students develop greater attention span and multitasking skills. The result is a mastery of English to interact in global contexts with confidence and cultural sensitivity.
In the upper grades, Newport School introduces French as a third language, broadening language skills. This approach aims for our students to develop communicative skills in French while fostering a global perspective and an appreciation for different cultures that make use of this language. Through immersive, hands-on learning, they strengthen their creativity, autonomy and problem-solving skills in multicultural environments.
By mastering Spanish, English and French, students become global citizens with linguistic and cultural competences that provide them with competitive advantages for their academic and professional future.
From an early age our students are immersed in a process of learning English in an immersive environment. Through games and playful activities, they develop vocabulary, pronunciation and communication skills.
Our bilingual curriculum integrates English into various subjects through practical activities. Students develop reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, using language as a tool for learning and exploring new concepts.
English is immersed in most subjects as an essential part of learning. In the upper grades, it is strengthened with an intensive approach to consolidate advanced language skills and they take the TOEFL test to measure their level of English.
From Stage 6 to Stage 9, our students begin their journey towards learning a third language by incorporating French into their learning. In this way, they have the opportunity to get to know new contexts related to this language.
Understand new perspectives and broaden your view of the world.
From pre-school onwards, interactive methods are used to reinforce vocabulary and pronunciation, helping students to become familiar with the basic structure of the languages.
During Primary, the approach becomes more structured, incorporating reading, writing, listening and speaking, enabling students to express themselves with confidence. And in the Baccalaureate, the emphasis is on critical thinking and written production, preparing students for international exams and their future academic and professional lives to function in international settings.
